Paper Boy

Lucas has always had a very flexible body. When he was five his parents decided to let him visit the local circus school and see if he would enjoy it. The trainer at the school gave him a few tests and was amazed at what such a young boy could do without any training at all.

He invited the boy to take a look at the teenagers who practiced some advanced contortion positions in the gym. He just stood there and watched, the way they could bend backwards so deep to literally lay their shoulders upon their own thighs, it was absolutely charming! He was even surprised when the trainer asked him if he would also like to practice contortion. But of course, that's all he wanted to do right here and now!

Contortion has become his first true love and if someone ever asked him if he'd rather go to the gym or have an ice cream, strangely he'd rather prefer to go to the gym.

The first thing he wanted most of all was a very deep backbend, it was his most favorite thing and he was ready to practice for hours a day just to get it. The first 2-3 weeks were the hardest because stretching felt uncomfortable at first, e.g. he'd arch backwards and put hands upon some chair, trying to straighten the legs to get a deeper arch, and it was quite annoying and uncomfortable to keep this position for long. But shortly he started to notice the obvious progress and he simply stopped to mind the discomfort and then somehow it started feeling more and more natural to stretch for many hours a day.

Since then almost ten years passed. Lucas went to a regular school as well, and then recently he started to work as a paper boy in the early morning before school.

Running from house to house in the morning helped to warm up after sleep, and then Lucas was ready to practice his favorite contortions which he loved to do in the nearby park.

But of course he wouldn't be able to do his best in the morning when the body was still too stiff. But even so early he could already pull some very cool moves. For example the move that his trainer was used to call "the backpack", as shown in the picture. The move was a perfect exercise that stretched not only the spine but also the hip joints as the legs were pulled down under the armpits. This position was something similar to an ordinary man's cup of morning coffee, it sent some nice shivers through his whole body and his body felt so very light and full of energy afterwards!

Over the years of training the boy's got himself the deepest backbend because contortion has been his favorite thing all his life. He was born to be an ordinary kid but one day contortion gave him the passion and the path with heart. It seemed like the whole world helped him to become an amazing contortionist and he was lucky to have met the right people who assured him he could do it if he put his heart into it, and he did.
